This class is highly beneficial for those returning from an illness or injury, or who haven’t moved in a long time. It is recommended for those who are just looking for an easy class, 50 & up, and pre-natal. Everyone will leave refreshed and relaxed.

This class emphasizes the fundamental practices of classical yoga. Beginning with centering and pranayama breathing exercises, the class helps students to gain strength and confidence through the performance of standing poses and sequences, such as sun salutations, warrior, and balances poses. Safely aligned forward folds and gentle back bends help students alleviate injury and strengthen the body’s digestive and immune systems. To release congestion and relieve tension in the body, students engage in spinal toning through twists. Students rejuvenate the lymphatic and endocrine system with various types of inversions. The effects and lessons of the practice are absorbed through deep relaxation, meditation, and purifying pranayama. The class suits all students, especially those who are new to yoga or those who prefer a gentler practice. Multiple posture options are offered, and students can gradually build strength and balance needed for more advanced yoga practice. All levels welcome.

Community Meditation Practice

Close
8:00 pm9:30 pm

A guided meditation practice to “squint” the inner eye of awareness in order to consciously observe and study subtle mechanisms of the mind and body. It is a "seeing is believing" approach that targets some or all of the following:

* Practicing detached, objective observation without aversion to negative thoughts, emotions or physical sensations.
* Preparing for a process of release of suppressed feelings and emotions.
* Looking at inner challenges that interrupt daily practice of introspection.
* Cultivating a balanced, non-reactive mind no matter the circumstances.
* Changing the attitude toward the mind and loosening the grip of the mind's momentum.
* Deriving personal, experiential truth about thoughts, emotions and feelings.

There is much hype over mediation these days. Inner peace, control over the mind, physical healing and higher knowledge are powerful attention grabbers, inviting millions to explore an overwhelming lineup with varying philosophies and techniques. After more than 10 years of searching the world, experience has gifted me wisdom as simple as it is profound: “Know Yourself”. That is, to achieve mastery over one’s mind, one must first derive knowledge of the mind through experience. Inner peace, physical healing and deep understanding then come as byproducts proportional to that degree of mastery.
Absolutely no prior meditation experience necessary. Please bring a pillow(s)/cushion(s) to sit on. Make sure that you are comfortable!

All sessions are free. Donation is appreciated, but not obligatory.

All levels are welcome.
